The Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences is located in vibrant downtown Oakland, California, just across the bay from San Francisco.
We offer approved degree programs for the Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine. We also have certification programs and classes for Tui-Na medical massage, and Taiji (tai-chi) and qigong (chi-kung). Our campus is also the location of our community acupuncture and herb clinic.
Graduates of the Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine (MSTCM) degree program are eligible to sit for the acupuncture licensure examination given by the California State Acupuncture Board, and sit for the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncturists and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) exam.

Our Mission:
The goal of the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences is to provide exceptional education in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and serve as an economical outlet for health care services through its clinic which is open to the public. Students in the graduate program will receive the skills and experience necessary to obtain licensure to become exceptional primary health care providers.
Educational Objectives:
At the time of graduation, the student will be able to:
- Understand and exercise a combination of TCM modalities, including fundamentals, ethics, philosophies, acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition, and medical massage
- Distinguish Chinese medical practice from Western medical modalities and bridge different aspects of both Eastern and Western treatments.
- Engage in the traditional Taoist cultural life practices to promote health and healing aspects, such as meditation, Taiji, Chi-gong, and nutrition/diet.
- Pass the state licensure and national certification competency examinations.
- Provide excellent primary health care through the application of contemporary practice management skills.
- Enhance their education by taking continuing education courses to further his or her career development.
- Learn essential research methodologies, which will aid in establishing scientific theory applied to Traditional Chinese Medicine.
- Serve the local community and the medical environment by promoting public health and health education.
The Professional Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine program of the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), which is the recognized accrediting agency for the approval of programs preparing acupuncture and Oriental medicine practitioners.
